PhotoVoice Training for Institutions, Organisations, and NGOs

PhotoVoice can provide training courses within institutions and organisations worldwide, delivered either in-person or online. Using our standard curriculum, the 1-day or 3-day training course will cover a variety of practical topics related to the key concepts of participatory photography, including ethics, visual literacy, working with cameras, and designing your own participatory project.

These courses suit teams or multiple staff members from within the same organisation/project, and are only available as commissioned activities.

Courses are available for up to 12 attendees in-person, held at a venue of your choice and up to 10 attendees for online courses. Please note that for in person training the commissioning institution is responsible for securing a suitable venue, including where possible AV equipment (projector and screen).

An Introduction to the Key Concepts of Participatory Photography

This 1 day in-person (two days online) course covers:

  • Photography for participation
  • Visual literacy
  • Photo elicitation
  • Using the cameras
  • Working with text
  • Risk, copyright, and informed consent

Please note that the 1-day curriculum is intended to be an introduction to key concepts related to participatory photography. We don’t recommend delivering projects or activities on the basis of the 1-day curriculum.

A Comprehensive Introduction to Participatory Photography

This 3 day in-person (five days online) course covers:

  • What is participatory photography?
  • Photography as a tool for participation
  • Visual literacy
  • Photo elicitation
  • Using the cameras
  • Power dynamics and addressing bias
  • Workshop and project design planning and practicalities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ethics, informed consent and copyright
  • Understanding and working with risk
  • Creating a safe space
  • Working with text
  • Participatory editing
  • Creating outputs

Pricing

Introductory PhotoVoice Training (In-Person or Online)

Standard rate: £2520

This is a fixed price is for the delivery of the whole course. For in-person delivery, all travel and subsistence rates will be in addition to the above training fee.

Online training is delivered via our learning platform PhotoVoice CONNECT, and split into two sessions of approximately 3.5 hours, which are run over two consecutive days. Some self-guided learning elements are also incorporated into the course.

Comprehensive PhotoVoice Training (In-Person or Online)

Standard rate: £6480

This is a fixed price is for the delivery of the whole course. For in-person delivery, all travel and subsistence rates will be in addition to the training fee above.

The online training is delivered via our learning platform PhotoVoice CONNECT over five days, which includes three four-hour long live sessions and independent learning sessions which includes videos, reading and reflective assignments.
