Activity 1 – The second option best describes how I might currently be approaching projects, as I don’t have any experience of partnership working.

Activity 2 – I made a few changes to the list. Some aspects of the cycle, e.g. monitoring/evaluation and uploading/discussing images would be an ongoing process, so would appear more than once (although I only included them once here!). I felt I wanted to contact the policy influencers before the celebration and exhibition so that they could be part of it. One of the things I found most interesting from the video was the idea of seeking consent at the end – this makes complete sense, but I can see how this way of working might be difficult for partner organisations. Similarly, I found it helpful to hear about the difficulties when applying for funding for participatory photography projects.

In think about the Project Cycle – I have made some amendments in light of this

    ACTIVITY 1: Project Model
    – My model is a little bit different. I have a scholarship through DFAT (International Aid of Australia) to support the evaluation of projects by other grantees in Cambodia and Nepal. The partner organizations were selected prior to my joining. However, I have selected PP as one of my evaluation methodologies. My research is two layers – firstly to explore the stories of local staff members of the programs and secondly to explore how PP works to understand transformative type change for individuals and communities.

    ACTIVITY 2: Project Cycle
I have adapted the project cycle components based on my model. Similar to Cath the uploading/discussing will happen over the course of a month. And I have embedded three layers of consent within the project. One to participate in the project, one for photos of other people and one to share individual images.

    Find project partners / participants
    Prepare budget
    Apply funds
    Devise project plan
    Define core purpose
    Identify Aims & Objectives
    Develop protection procedures

    Complete consent forms (V1)
    Implement workshops

    Train basic camera skills

    Activity 1.
My project model incorporates most of the elements listed from Project Design, Funding application through to project design and delivery as I have been slowly commencing this planning from recent experience in disability service over the last year. I have acquired numerous skill sets since ideas came into play, training and networks for approaching partnerships in my idea. Now to build it up

    Activity 2.
My Project model and mapping is similar to that of Andy and would work within the same plan.

    Find project partners / participants
    Define core purpose
    Identify Aims & Objectives
    Devise project plan
    Plan workshop content / timetable
    Prepare budget
    Apply funds

    Develop protection procedures
    Recruit/train/DBS staff / volunteers

    Edit/caption images
    Discuss implications of image use

Actually I am most likely going to work n two ways with two different projects:
Project 1: A partner organisation will ask you to work with them to develop a project that achieves their planned outcomes. – (Evaluation project)
    and
Project 2: You might approach a number of organisations to work with you to develop a project. (Youth Resiliency project)

    Project 1:
    Typical Project Cycle:

    Define core purpose
    Identify Aims & Objectives
    Find project partners / participants
    Prepare budget
Apply funds (Will be funded by the project to be evaluated)
    Devise project plan
    Develop protection procedures
    Recruit/train/DBS staff / volunteers
    Plan workshop content / timetable
    Source venue
    Source equipment
    Implement workshops
    Set ground rules
    Explore visual literacy
    Train basic camera skills
    Identify personal project ideas
    Go on outshoots
    Upload / Discuss images
    Edit/caption images
    Discuss implications of image use
    Complete consent forms
    Project celebration
Contact policy influencers – not done by me as evaluator but assist programme organisation in skills to do it?
    Exhibition
    Disseminate outputs
    Monitoring/evaluation
Compile funder reports – inhouse project so maybe not necessary?

I would suggest the following flow, based around the ‘plan’, ‘do’, ‘assess’ and review cycle.

    Define core purpose
    Identify Aims & Objectives
    Devise project plan
    Contact policy influencers
    Plan workshop content / timetable
    Source venue
    Source equipment
    Monitoring/evaluation design
    Prepare budget

    Find project partners / participants
    Develop protection procedures
    Recruit/train/ staff / volunteers

Implement workshops (would welcome a guide on how many?)
    Set ground rules
    Train basic camera skills
    Explore visual literacy
    Go on outshoots
    Upload / Discuss images
    Identify personal project ideas
    Edit/caption images
    Discuss implications of image use
    Complete consent forms

    Project celebration / learning workshop

    Exhibition
    Disseminate outputs
    Monitoring/evaluation report
    Compile funder reports

I am not sure I can already reply to these exercices, sorry. But I will give an “approximative” answer:

Activity 1. PROJECT DESIGN maybe best describes how I might be approaching projects.

Activity 2. I think I will change some order at the beggining. Actually I have asked for a funding, so I have to write down: budget, objectives, timetable, etc.

    Define core purpose
    Identify Aims & Objectives
    Prepare budget
    Find project partners / participants
    Plan workshop content / timetable
    Apply funds
    Devise project plan
    Develop protection procedures
    Source venue
    Source equipment
    Implement workshops
    Set ground rules
    Train basic camera skills
    Explore visual literacy
    Go on outshoots
    Upload / Discuss images
    Identify personal project ideas
    Edit/caption images
    Discuss implications of image use
    Complete consent forms
    Project celebration
    Contact policy influencers
    Exhibition
    Disseminate outputs
    Monitoring/evaluation
    Compile funder reports
