PhotoVoice is part of the judging panel for a new photography competition launched by Spirit of 2012.
Spirit is an independent trust established in 2013, which works to recreate the spirit that radiated from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. They invest in projects that use art and creativity to increase wellbeing and engage communities. The competition has been launched to engage the public with Spirit’s outcomes, and to demonstrate the role photography has in telling a story and connecting communities.
Entrants are invited to submit an image that illustrates one of Spirit’s outcomes, which are:
The competition is looking for creativity, originality and a true engagement with the theme. The competition is free to enter, and entrants are asked to share their image on social media and then submit it alongside a caption and 250 word explanation of what photography means to them.
The first prize is £1000 with six further prizes of £300. The winning entries will be displayed at the House of Lords in late November.
The competition will run from the 5th August 2015 to Friday 16th October at 5pm. It is open to all UK residents over the age of 18. Further information on eligibility is available to download in the Photography Competition Information Pack, or at Spirit of 2012’s website here.
