The Chernobyl exclusion zone, a 50km region of north Ukraine, has long held a sense of mystery and attracted adventurers and photographers alike. Access to this zone is limited, but those who are lucky enough to visit can have experiences unlike any other – to explore an abandoned city, left to the elements for 30 years since the disaster that forced the population out.
There are only a handful of tour operators who can offer access to this zone, and PhotoVoice is pleased to be able to offer an exclusive tour package with one of the best, Chernobyl Photo.
With photographers in mind, the four day tours will provide workshops, tips on editing and curating, and put you in places few others have visited.
You will see the damaged reactor itself, now covered with a huge sarcophagus, the largest movable structure ever built. You can meet settlers in the exclusion zone, who have continued to live there despite the risks. You can explore hotels, shops, military installations, all frozen in time from the height of the Soviet regime.
Each of the four day tours will be led by a different photographer (including PhotoVoice CEO Tom Elkins) and are available throughout the year on a variety of dates. All accommodation is included in the trip (flights and transport to Kiev aren’t included).
