Academic or Institutional Training

PhotoVoice can provide training courses within institutions and organisations worldwide. Using our standard curriculum, the 1-day or 3-day training course will cover a variety of topics related to the key concepts of participatory photography, including ethics, visual literacy, working with cameras, and designing your own participatory project.

Courses are available for up to 12 attendees, held at a venue of your choice. Please note that the commissioning institution is responsible for securing a suitable venue, including where possible AV equipment (projector and screen).

Two curriculums are available:
1-day training

The course covers:

  • Introducing Visual Literacy
  • Photo dialogues
  • Using the cameras
  • Working with text
  • Risk, copyright, and informed consent
3-day training

The course covers:

  • What is participatory photography?
  • Photography as a participatory medium
  • Visual literacy
  • Workshop and project design practicalities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ethics, informed consent and copyright
  • Understanding and working with risk
  • Creating a safe space
  • Working with text
  • Participatory editing
Prices:
1-day training

PhotoVoice Organisational Supporter: £1500 + VAT

Standard rate: £1750 + VAT

3-day training

PhotoVoice Organisational Supporter: £4000 + VAT

Standard rate: £5000 + VAT
